Summer Projects: Part 1

A few years ago, Cory and I rented a house with a big kitchen that was, oddly, small on counter space. So, I began searching for a piece of furniture I could convert into a "kitchen island."

{old kitchen, dyi kitchen island}

I went to Old Lucketts Store and scored this little cutie. Originally, it was basically orange with a thick layer of polyurethane. YIKES! I painted it and added some wheels. I wanted to replace the hardware at the time but my favorite options from anthropologie weren't exactly in my budget.

When we moved into our current house I needed a dresser not a kitchen island. I popped the wheels off and that was pretty much it, until recently...

I removed the old hardware and sanded the dresser first. Then I added a few coats of fresh paint (fishermans net, Olympic).

I had been stalking the hardware section at anthropologie for a while. I just happened to find these knobs on SALE (in store) for $2.95 each. Can you believe it?! I think they were originally $12 and destined to be mine (obviously).

I decided to paint the inside of the drawers as well. They seem so fresh and new now.

Happy Summer!

I am perpetually disorganized. Receipts, spare change and various electronic chargers  fly from my purse in the cereal isle as I frantically search for my ringing phone. I have laundry piles bigger than a family of 7 (not said family members stacked on top of one another just their clothes- and now, there is a naked family of 7 floating around in the cluttered abyss that is my brain. Looks like I made that sentence more confusing.). It goes without saying, my writing is also disorganized.
In typical disorganized fashion, I skim my inbox for the most appealing emails to read first. Jcrew, anthropologie, facebook, and realsimple immediately demand my attention. Followed (much later) by bank statements, alumni updates and groupons. Today, a message from my favorite Italian ice shack peeked my interest. They informed me of the changing season and more importantly bargain $2 icys. Of course I would find out it's officially summer by reading an email from an ice shack.
 I must say I am very thankful to know summer is upon us. I was beginning to think the crickets were getting to be so loud on Huspaz that I could actually hear them while sitting on my back porch.
Huspaz is back! I have long list of things to share with you. Luckily the days are longer now which means more time for blogging and margarita consumption. xx~L
